Quotes from the Jim Jam gig - Robin 2, 16th November 2002.
Mike Hamblet, Owner Robin 2….
When Jim Played the Robin, I really didn't know what to expect, he was always the quiet guy in Slade, but when he walked onto the stage with a guitar (not bass) and two guys he picked up for the Jim Jam session at the Robin, he blasted off and the volume nearly killed the front row. It was such a shock to the audience! I had a pint of beer and took one sip and realized I had missed one of his Hendrix style guitar antics. I didn't take another drink of my beer for the whole time he was on stage. I felt anxious because I didn't know what he was going to do next, but also exhilarated, the biggest surprise was the way he spoke to the audience at length. We still talk about the gig at the Robin Hood and think that of the many artists we had here, it maybe the best night we had. Jim has refused a repeat performance, shame!
Mick Marson, Original "In Between" guitarist…
.It was a good night, but I never heard anything so loud in all my life. I was deaf for 2 days.
Graham Swinnerton, Ex Slade tour manager….
I knew Jim wouldn't be crap on his own! I rang him the day after the gig and told him I was impressed, not much impresses me!
